About

Abbie has worked in both the private and public sectors as a clinical psychologist, and has experience on a broad range of psychological issues. She has worked with clients in acute and crisis situations, as well as those with lower acuity, longer term concerns. Outside of her clinical work, Abbie enjoys being part of a research team developing interactive online therapy content for young people. She is passionate about making therapy relevant, relatable, and accessible.

Abbie is particularly experienced in the following:

Therapeutic approach:

Abbie takes ideas from various therapies in her work with clients, including: cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, meta-cognitive therapy, solution focused therapy, schema therapy, and gestalt therapy. She likes to think systemically as a psychologist, about how mental health is situated within a wider social and cultural context, and how ideas from adjacent disciplines like philosophy and sociology can be used to further our understanding of psychology.

Abbie takes a relaxed and collaborative approach to therapy, and aims to create a therapy space that feels warm, supportive, honest, and helpful. She wants to help clients feel free to speak their mind, be candid about what is and isn’t helpful, and so far as it is useful, to use the therapy relationship to explore relational patterns.
